East and West meet in Jaime Hayon's playful redesign of a traditional Asian lantern with a contemporary expression. Paper lanterns, found for centuries in Asia among the privileged and the poor, have different colors, shapes and sizes that convey different meanings. Here, Hayon has left cultural formalities aside and created a series of lamps in pure white. Handcrafted from rice paper combining different sizes and shapes. The series includes three different lantern variations and a table lamp in ivory-colored rice paper with black-stained oak accents.
