Artist

Parastou Forouhar was born in Tehran Iran in 1962 and studied art there. She has lived and worked in Germany since 1991 and creates some of the most stirring political works among contemporary Iranian artists. She is the daughter of well-known secular activist parents, both of whom were brutally murdered in their home in 1998. Her emotionally charged artworks often consist of repetitive texts, shapes and symbols through which she finds catharsis.
